Privacy Policy

Summary

SoundMeterOnline does not collect, transmit, or store any audio data. Your microphone stream is processed entirely within your browser and never leaves your device.

Audio Data

When you grant microphone access, the audio stream is connected to a Web Audio API AnalyserNode running locally in your browser tab. The raw audio samples are used to calculate decibel levels and frequency spectra. At no point does the audio data leave your device. There is no server endpoint, WebSocket connection, or cloud service receiving your microphone input.

When you stop the measurement or close the tab, the audio stream is terminated and all associated buffers are released from memory.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use localStorage to save your theme preference (light or dark mode). No tracking cookies are set. No third-party cookies are used.

Analytics

We may use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics (such as page view counts) to understand which tools are most used. If analytics are present, they do not track individual users, do not use cookies, and do not collect personally identifiable information. No analytics code runs within the audio measurement interface itself.

Third-Party Services

This website loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google's privacy policy applies to that request. No other third-party services receive data from your visit. There are no advertising networks, social media trackers, or marketing pixels on this site.

Data Export

When you export session data as CSV or PNG, the file is generated entirely in your browser and downloaded directly to your device. No data passes through our servers during export.

Children's Privacy

This tool is used in educational settings. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children or adults. The tool requires no account creation, email address, or personal details of any kind.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Given the nature of this tool (static site, no data collection), significant changes are unlikely.
