Acceptance
By using SoundMeterOnline.com, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the tool. It's free - nothing binds you to it.
What we provide
A browser-based sound measurement tool that uses your device's microphone to display approximate decibel levels, frequency spectra, and waveforms. The tool is provided free of charge, without warranty, and without guarantee of accuracy.
Measurement accuracy
Readings from this tool are approximate. They depend on your microphone hardware, browser implementation, environmental conditions, and the absence of calibration. Do not use these readings for:
- OSHA compliance documentation
- Legal noise disputes or court evidence
- Environmental regulatory filings
- Medical assessments of hearing damage
- Any purpose where measurement uncertainty has legal or health consequences
For such purposes, use a calibrated Class 1 or Class 2 sound level meter that meets IEC 61672 standards.
Limitation of liability
SoundMeterOnline is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for any damages arising from the use of this tool, including but not limited to: inaccurate readings, hearing damage from reliance on readings, failed compliance assessments, or any decision made based on measurements from this tool.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for granting microphone permissions. You are responsible for understanding the limitations of browser-based measurement. You are responsible for seeking certified measurement equipment when accuracy has safety, legal, or health implications.
Intellectual property
The SoundMeterOnline name, logo, and website content are our intellectual property. The underlying audio measurement algorithms (RMS calculation, FFT, dB conversion) are standard mathematical operations not subject to proprietary claims.
Changes
We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date.
